Sunrise in Rio de Janeiro

Paul woke up early to take photos of the sunrise from the patio area of the bed and breakfast.

After some much needed rest, we had breakfast with several of the other guests at the B&B.  Somewhat humorous (to me, at least) was that there was a lady from Colombia (the country) and a lady from Columbia (the university).  The lady from Columbia University was in Rio for 2 weeks meeting with the Mayor's people to conduct research for her Master's thesis in City / Urban planning.  Wow, what a great way to study!  Other travelers among us for breakfast were an Australian lady living in New York and a German from Berlin.  The German who had arrived 2 weeks ago commented that the breakfast language had changed several times during the course of his stay depending on the most common language of all of the guests.  I was happy / lucky we were there when all of the other visitors spoke English.  Over the next 3 mornings we would meet visitors from Turkey, Brazil, and Belgium.  The Brazilian man was married to the lady from Turkey and said he knew English because he spent a lot of time in Belgium (humorous to me).  The range of visitors covers the gamut to say the least.

Our breakfast consisted of a delicious fruit juice, coffee, tea, cheese bread, sandwich bread, ham slices, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and other assorted pastries.  It was a full spread for the 6 guests of the Carmen e Fernando B&B.
