Dinner at Aprazível in Santa Teresa, Rio

March 23, 2013 was our 11 year wedding anniversary.  Paul made reservations at the hilltop restaurant in Santa Teresa named "pleasant" or "delightful" in English and "Aprazível" in Portuguese.

The restaurant was about 1 mile away from our bed and breakfast which seemed to be an easily walkable distance on the map; it turned out to be mostly up a steep hill.  Definitely hill work.  At several points there were forks in the road and Paul had to use his navigation skills and his map memorization to lead us in the right direction. (We didn't want to carry a large map as to not look even more conspicuous than we already were.)
Apraível featured dishes from Minas Gerais, another state in Brazil. At this point, we realized that the portions in Brazil are very generous so we decided to order one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert.  Our appetizer was a basket of various breads with butter and ceviche.

For our entree, we ordered galinha caipira (English translation: chicken with sausage). Described in our Moon Rio guidebook as, "organic chicken seasoned with sausage and garnished with braised kale and banana."

And finally, baiao de dois (English translation: tapioca pudding with açai) for dessert.
